A gripping true story of humanity and heroism, Hotel Mumbai vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff is the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name and Nazanin Boniadi, Homeland) is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.

Anthony Maras directs Hotel Mumbai from a script he co-wrote with John Collee. Basil Iwanyk, Gary Hamilton, Mike Gabrawy, Julie Ryan, Andrew Ogilvie and Jomon Thomas have teamed up to produce this dramatic historical thriller, which arrives from a joint collaboration between Bleecker Street and ShivHans Pictures.

Hotel Mumbai marks the directorial debut for Anthony Maras, who has made a name for himself in the world of short films. He also served as an executive producer on the 2009 drama Last Ride starring Hugo Weaving. His co-writer on the project John Collee has a pretty storied history in Hollywood, getting his start working on the TV series Star Cops. He is responsible for the cult classic Master and Commander, whose audience seems to grow every year. He also penned the animated Warner Bros. hit Happy Feet. On his list of upcoming projects are Little Dragon and Just Cause.

Dev Patel got his breakout start in the Oscar-winning drama Slumdog Millionaire. He took that new found fame and wound up in the blockbuster disaster The Last Airbender, but quickly rebounded with the hit comedy The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. He also starred in its sequel The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. He followed that up with a role in the sci-fi thriller Chappie. He will next be seen in the thriller The Wedding Guest.
